Australia Trip start

Tick tock, time is running out! Planning for a 4-week solo trip to the other side of the planet can be tricky: you need to be well prepared as you are alone and may encounter a number of unexpected events! So, I want to share with you what I am planning to take along with me in this adventure.

The luggage bags

First question would be, what sort of bag and how much weight am I going to bring? For the inbound and outbound flights I am traveling with Emirates and have 2 checked bags (23kg x2) + one carry on luggage, but then for domestic flights I’m purchasing only 1 pc checked bag, otherwise I need to request for a loan just for the flights LOL!

So, my resolution would be to bring 1 hardcover suitcase that I will always check in, 1 TNF Duffle S size that I can check in on the way to and back from Geneva to Sydney and 1 backpack. I will travel with the backpack and a few essentials first, then on domestic flights I will always carry on my duffle.

The Essentials

Of course underwear, pjs, tees, denims, shorts, bikinis, a couple of dresses, some tank tops, bathroom essentials like shower gel, toothpaste, toothbrush (that I’ll bring on board in my carry on always), hair conditioner, shampoo, shaving stuff, sunscreen, body lotion, insect repellent.

Then in my essentials list I would count also a 2 in 1 coat (wind shield and down), raincoat, power devices and adapters, battery power bank and travel documents.

On top of that, I’d bring travel essentials: microfiber towels, inflatable travel pillow and sleeping mask.

The packing stuff

I believe that to be efficient as I’ll be changing lodging almost every night I’ll need to have my stuff well organized at all times.

So I equipped myself with packing bags, bathroom bags, liquid 100ml and below bottles, laundry bags and jewelry bags. Also, I will pack a travel size cutlery set and travel mug, because you never know!

The not essential but could save your life

I am usually an optimist, so I never bring extra stuff because you never know. But this time I’m being a bit more cautious as there may be times when I won’t be able to find stores around or I may be face to face with a beast such as a snake or a tarantula (hey, Aussie is not famous for having dull wildlife!)

So: tall Hunter rain boots, a flashlight, a selfie stick (but to address spiders), water resistant packing bags and a few heavy clothing items (not for Uluru clearly, but for Tasmanian nights), such as a windshield coat, thermal underwear, a couple of hoodies and a fleece.

Then, as if I am hungry I may become the beast, I’ll bring along a few cereal bars, crackers, chocolate and tuna (lol don’t judge me!!!).

The Extras

Now, if I have any room left in my luggage, I’ll add my reflex camera, tripod, camera lenses for zoom and wide angle, laptop, and icing on the cake, the Instax camera to have some prints when I come home or to capture moments with new friends.

What do you say, am I all set to go?
