Australia part 2: Victoria & Melbourne

Vibing on the Ocean

Twelve Apostles

Melbourne, Great Ocean Road, Twelve Apostles

I was not sure on which neighbourhood to choose to be my home for the 3 nights I was going to spend in Melbourne. After a bit of research, I decided to exclude the CBD as it was not completely safe from drunk people and beggars. Instead, I picked Collingwood (a really nice area near Fitzroy), to stay in a nice collab hotel calle lyf.

There are kitchens on every floor and common fridges, while the rooms are small but cozy and comfy.

I really enjoyed walking around there to explore markets. There were a bunch nearby and in Fitzroy. My favorite was the Rose Street Artists’ Market (you only find it in some days, see more info here: https://www.rosestmarket.com.au/). You find a lot of mixed stuff of all types, from baby clothes to mixers, books, drawings, and more.

Also, in the area, there’s a bunch of vintage shops selling heaps of clothes and things. You only need to find some spare time to go and dive into them. I went to Lost and Found on Brunswick Street.

Of course you may expect just as much from a city beach, as I decided to spend an afternoon with a friend I met in Sydney in St. Kilda Beach.

Loads of crowd, noise, and clouds of flies… so annoying! But all in all was a nice experience anyway as the sunset was quite nice.

I met Filly during my Phuket Pole camp (I talked about it here). So since I was visiting, I decided to take a couple of classes and privates in her home studio. I also took the chance to see again Grace, a friend I met in Phuket.

Had loads of fun and learned some really cool stuff!

While in Melbourne, together with Jil (my friend from Sydney), we decided to take a one day trip to Phillip Island.

The day started rainy and very windy, but worth a few highlights.

We started from the Koala Sanctuary, where Koalas are kept in safe areas but with plenty of space to move. Then we drove up to the Nobbies viewpoint with a lot of birds and very nice views on the Ocean.

We ended our day in Woolamai surf beach where we took a cliff walk with breathtaking nature sights.

Recommended to go there if you have a bit of time to spare!

The Twelve Apostles were an absolute must in my itinerary, so I decided to get there by the Great Ocean Road, stopping at few viewpoints: Bells Beach, Aireys Inlet, Apollo Bay, before arriving to Port Campbell National Park.

I stayed in a really really cute motel near Twelve Apostles.

I do not have many words to write about that area, because it needs to be seen.

Just one piece of advice: save Gibson Steps for sunset and go down to enjoy it from the beach. The light is just amazing.
